Contains the following type of materials: photographs. Covers the following war: World War II (WWII). General description of the collection: The Edmund J. Winslett photograph collection includes a varied collection of photographs, many without captions of areas in the Pacific during World War II. Of note are photos of Lieutenant General Robert Eichelberger and General Dwight D. Eisenhower on tours of Japan after World War II. There are numerous photos of Japan, both aerial shots and those on land of various cities showing bomb damage. There are several captured Japanese photos of segments of the Japanese Army at training. There are some very good aerial photos of Carabao Island and of the concrete bastion named Fort Drum. There are a grouping of stereo photos of native culture and life in the Philippines and New Guinea.

Originally commissioned an infantry officer in 1917. During World War II was initially a coast artillery commander and then entered military intelligence work. After being schooled at Camp Ritchie, MD, Winslett was given command of an intelligence detachment which served briefly in Europe before being transferred to the Pacific theater.
