Edward A. Chittenden letter to George E. Randall regarding the Saint Albans raid, 1904.

A letter written by Edward A. Chittenden to George E. Randall, dated November 17, 1904, relating his service in the New York militia at Rouse's Point around the time of the Saint Albans raid on October 19, 1864. Chittenden was the orderly sergeant and kept the rolls for the regiment. In the letter he gives the names of the officers, the number of soldiers and which arsenal supplied their firearms. He appears to be answering a letter from George E. Randall who was inquiring about about his eligibility for a veteran's association.

Edward Alonzo Chittenden was born on August 8.1841 in Williston, Vermont, the son of Truman A. and Betsy (Rhodes) Chittenden. George Elliott Randall was born on June 14, 1847 in New Hampshire. Both were serving at Rouse's Point, New York at the time of the Saint Albans raid on October 19, 1864. After the war, Edward A.
