Papers, 1917-1947, undated include: biographical materials on Oppermann family; correspondence, mostly between Kurt Oppermann and Weir, 1917-1929 and 1931; books of poems (2), undated, by Weir and published by Oppermann; a German poem translated by Oppermann, undated; and a scrapbook of poems by Weir, 1942-1947. Two photographs of Weir are included in the poems. Most of the correspondence concerns violoncellos, Weir's playing or teaching schedules, family news, career news of the two men, and information about the cities in which they lived. There is some correspondence about furs ordered from the Oppermann Fur Company, as well as letterhead from both universities and the Company.

Weir was an instructor and later assistant professor in the Dept. of Rhetoric at the University of Michigan (UM), 1917-1924, an instructor of violoncello at UM School of Music, 1922, and a professor in the Dept. of English at Brown University in Providence (R.I.), 1919-1929.
