Hickey (born on Feb. 15, 1817 in Palmyra, NY and died on April 25, 1897 in Coldwater, MI) was a prominent preacher and leader of the Strangite Mormon Church following the death of James Jesse Strang. A polygamist, he married at least three wives, Mrs. Ann Davis, on Dec. 9, 1841, with whom he had three children; Francis Miller, with whom he had three children; and Sarah Ann Linnell (born on Nov. 11, 1834) with whom he had ten children. Wingfield Watson was born in 1828 in Ireland. He was a loyal disciple of James Jesse Strang, who started the Church of Jesus Christ (Strangites). In 1848 Watson migrated to America. In St. Louis (Mo.) he read and was moved profoundly by Mormon books. As a result, he was later baptized into the faith and moved to Beaver Island (Mich.) to live among Strangite Mormons. Papers are actually undated 20th century transcriptions of two letters from Mormon missionaries found in the Evening and Morning Star (EMS), a monthly Mormon newspaper, in Ohio and Mich.
