Pass, Dec. 14, 1747, written in Boston for John Hawks, former commander of Fort Massachusetts, by Massachusetts governor Shirley, allowing Hawks to proceed to Canada to exchange Pierre-Marie-Joseph Raimbault de St. Blaint (wounded French cadet captured in Northfield, Oct. 16, 1747) for Samuel Allen (eight-year old captured Aug. 25, 1746, near Deerfield by Indians who had participated in the taking of Fort Massachusetts).
