Papers, 1862-1864.

Letters, 1862-1864, written primarily to his wife Francis and family members, which reflect time served in the 13th Regiment; military documents; and a short unpublished biography on Dr. Love by Francis A. Nelson, III (1963). Love's letters contain descriptions of his travels and experiences in the battles of Antietam Creek, the Cumberland Gap, Gettysburg, Williamsburg, and, in particular, Chancellorsville (where he included maps of army movements and statistics on the wounded). Other topics include Love's views on politics, the war, commanders, railroad travel, Southern women, and African-Americans.
