Zachary Johnson, Mohegan Indian, was the principal councilor to the last Mohegan sachem, Ben Uncas. Following Uncas's death in 1769, Johnson became regent of the Mohegan tribe, a position he held until his own death in Norwich, Conn. in 1787.
