Summary: Collection consists of Marjorie Lambert's working files from the Museum of New Mexico, chiefly correspondence and notes on curatorial methods and treatments. Correspondents include Byron Harvey, V.F. Tannich, Volney Jones, Anna Shepard, Alice Marriott, E. Boyd, and Watson Smith. Also includes material on the excavation of the well at the Palace of the Governors in Santa Fe, and on the U.S. government's sheep breeding program on the Navajo Reservation. Photographs (1930-1945) received with collection depict Lambert in both professional and personal settings.

Alice Marriott was born in Wilmett, Ill. in 1910. Her parents moved the family to Oklahoma City when she was still a young girl. She received a B.A. in anthropology from the University of Oklahoma in 1930. In 1935, she became field specialist for the Indian Arts and Crafts Board.
