George Lewis, has an unsigned draft letter, n.d., on verso, regarding desertions in the British army, the arrival of reinforcements, and a blockade on the Schuylkill River. A letter, 25 October 1825, from Jefferson, Monticello, Va., to George Washington Lewis, a student at the University of Virginia, regards the selection of readings for courses in ancient and modern history, David Hume, and the history of England.

In response to the expansion of the Continental Army the number of staff was increased and reorganized in 1776. Changes included the creation of a new unit to supplement George Washington's personal staff.
