The call for the sixth White House Conference on Children and Youth (1960) was issued by President Dwight D. Eisenhower on May 27, 1958. On June 26, 1959, Governor David L. Lawrence appointed a State Coordinating Committee to be responsible for the White House Conference preparations in Pennsylvania.
