Autograph letter signed, dated : Budapest Mar. 29 1884, to an unidentified friend, 1884 Mar. 29.

Saying that although he is grateful that Riedel plans to perform Liszt's oratorio Christus in Leipzig he feels that a historical program would be more appropriate for the 30th anniversary of the Riedel Society, beginning with Palestrina and Bach, then on to Wagner, Brahms "und meine Wenigkeit," suggesting his Seligkeiten and Franziskus Sonnen-Canticus, the latter having only been performed in Jena and Freiburg, complaining that his eyes become weaker and weaker, adding that generally someone must read and write for him etc.; with a typewritten letter signed, dated [New York] June 11 1940, from Walter [Damrosch] to Harry [Harkness Flagler], giving him this letter, and commenting that in 1887 Damrosch gave the first performance of Christus in America.
