Announcing his appointment [in 1892] as conductor of the London Handel Society, hesitating to undertake the conductorship again and giving his reasons [in 1893], expressing regret that he cannot conduct at the Concert of the Benefit of the Widow and Orphan Fund of the United Railway Servants, saying that Handel's Ode on St. Cecilia's Day must be performed with Mozart's (or someone else'e) additions, that Dvořák's Stabat Mater is too long, that Brahms's Song of Destiny might be tried, etc.
