Letter, 1827 December 6.

Letter explaining a land purchase situation they want addressed. They state that Oliver Phelps and Captain Jones purchased land from them and agreed to pay $4,000. Payment was put off for twenty years, Jones claiming to have no money, during which time the successive Indian agents promised to recover the money. The Indians asked for the bond paper from Jasper Parrish, and when they showed it to a judge friendly to them, were told that because it had been so long, the claim was void, according to white laws. The Indians claim their agents knew this fact but concealed it.
