Interpreter and U.S. sub-agent to the Six Nations of Indians.

Having learned the Delaware and Mohawk languages while a captive (1778-1784), Parrish in 1792 was appointed standing interpreter to the Six Nations, and in 1803 was named sub-agent, a post he held for thirty years.
