Petition to the Pennsylvania General Assembly requesting that those who served as military chaplains during the Revolutionary War be granted the same pension consideration as military surgeons, in light of various laws passed by the General Assembly and by Congress to deal with this pension issue. Signed by David Jones and William Rogers, and on behalf of Robert McMurdie, and dated 18 March 1788 at Philadelphia. The petition, or "Memorial," mentions that Benjamin Franklin and John Nicholson, comptroller-general of Pennsylvania, had been involved in the settlement of this issue.

David Jones, born in New Castle County, De., was ordained a Baptist minister in 1766 and obtained a Pastorate in Freehold, N.J. that same year.
