Irene Adler was born on September 9th, 1898, in Buttenhausen, Germany, the daughter of Louis and Mathilde (née Löwenberg) Adler. She was the sister of the musician Karl Adler (1890-1973). Irene Adler visited the trade school 'Zepf'sche Institut' in Stuttgart. Here, she met Maria Hagenmeyer. After graduating from the trade school, Irene worked as a secretary in Stuttgart. Born in Buttenhausen, Wuerttemberg on January 25, 1890, Karl Adler studied music at the Stuttgart Conservatory, of which he became director in 1922. He was a cofounder of the Verein zur Foerderung der Volksbildung, an adult-education organization, and director of its music department. In 1926, he was a director of the Juedisches Lehrhaus Stuttgart.
