Robert Randolph Garran (1867-1957), was Secretary to the Attorney-General's Dept and Parliamentary Draftsman, 1901-1932, and Solicitor-General, 1917-1932. His father, Andrew Garran was editor of the Sydney Morning Herald, 1873-1885 and was elected to the N.S.W. Legislative Council in 1887.

Robert Garran was Secretary to the Attorney-General's Dept. and Parliamentary draughtsman from 1901 to 1916 and Solicitor-General from 1917 to 1932. He is also remembered for his involvement in the drafting of the Constitution (1897-1898) and his scholarship in the classics, Australian constitution law, and German literature and music.
