John Fletcher is a local historian of Nottinghamshire. He has undertaken extensive research into the Pelham-Clinton archive of the Dukes of Newcastle, both at the University and in other repositories, and has provided the National Trust at Clumber with background research to assist the Trust's interpretation and management of the property. In 2001 the Trust published his extracts from the diaries of the 4th Duke of Newcastle, which form part of the University's Newcastle Collection, under the title 'Where Truth Abides'. John Fletcher has also lectured regularly to local groups and societies about his research.
