Samuel Huntington (1731-1796) was born on July 16 in Windham, Connecticut. After private study, Huntington received permission to practice law in Connecticut in 1754. He moved to Norwich in 1760. He was elected as a Representative from Norwich to the Connecticut General Assembly in 1764. A delegate to the Continental Congress, in 1776 Huntington signed the Declaration of Independence. He served in the Continental Congress until 1874, during which time he served as its President from 1779 to 1781. The Congress ratified the Articles of the Confederation during Huntington's presidency. He was elected Governor of Connecticut in 1786, a position he held until his death in 1796.

Huntington was a Connecticut lawyer who was a delegate to the U.S. Continental Congress, signed the Declaration of Independence and served as the governor of Connecticut (1786-1796). Benedict Arnold was a merchant and trader in the West Indies. He served in the U.S. Revolutionary Army, but defected to the British in 1780 and served until the War was over. He then went to Canada and eventually to England.

Samuel Huntington (1731-1796) was born in Windham, Conn., and died in Norwich, Conn. He was admitted to the Connecticut bar in 1758 and began his practice in Norwich. Huntington represented Connecticut in the Continental Congress from 1775 to 1784, and was a signer of the Declaration of Independence. From 1779 to 1781, Huntington was president of the Congress, and from 1786 to 1795, he was annually reelected governor of Connecticut.
