Will David Howe (1873-1946), an editor at the Charles Scribner's Sons publishing house in New York City, New York, was involved in the publication of the Vailima Edition of the Works of Robert Louis Stevenson in 1921.

A native of Charlestown, Ind., Howe was the brother of Butler University president Thomas Carr Howe. Will D. Howe took degrees from Butler College and Harvard, and taught English and literature at several schools, including Butler College and Indiana University. While teaching at Butler (1899-1906), Howe served as secretary of the board of the Irvington Athenaeum, an Indianapolis area literary and social club. Howe left teaching to become an editor, first with Harcourt, Brace and Howe, and then for 21 years with Charles Scribner and Sons.
