Biographical notes:

Social leader and philanthropist. Appointed President of the Board of the Worlds Columbian Exposition and went to Europe to represent the Fair and was particularly successful in Belgium and Italy. McKinley appointed her to a committee for the Paris Exposition and was later awarded the French Legion of Honor. At her death she left a million dollars to charity.
