Cosima Wagner, 1837-1930. Born Bellagio, Lombardy. Wife of Richard Wagner and illegitimate daughter of Franz Liszt and Countess Marie d'Agoult. Married at 18 Hans Von Bulow with whom she had 2 children, then later married Wagner. After his death, she became Director of Bayreuth Festivals (1883-1908).

Jeanette Leonard Gilder, 1849-1916. Born Flushing, NY. Journalist, critic, at 18 became writer for Newark Morning Register and Newark reporter for New York Tribune, subsequently with Scribner's Monthly, New York Herald, and Chicago Tribune. Started "The Critic" with her brother and also authored The Autobiography of a Tomboy and The Tomboy at Work.
