Robinson Potter Dunn (1825-1867), son of Theophilus Colhoun Dunn ( -1871) and Elizabeth Robinson Potter Dunn ( - ), was born in Newport, R.I. He graduated from Brown University in 1843 and was assistant librarian and French instructor at Brown from 1843 to 1845. He graduated from the Princeton Theological Seminary in 1848 and was ordained by the Presbytery of West Jersey later the same year. He was pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Camden, N.J., 1848 to 1851, and Professor of Rhetoric and English Literature at Brown University, 1851 to 1867. He married Maria Still ̌( -1849), of Philadelphia, in 1848, and in 1855 married Mary Stiles Foster ( -1900), of Worcester, Mass. He died in Newport and was buried in Worcester.
