Biographical notes:

Cornelius Greenway (1896-1968) immigrated to the United States from Holland in 1914. During World War I he served with the U.S. Army in France and received the Purple Heart and the Service Medal. He graduated from Tufts University with a BA in 1925 and an STB in 1928. He was ordained to the Universalist ministry in 1926 and served the parishes of the Universalist Church of Taunton and the Universalist Church of the Redemption in Boston, Massachusetts. From 1929 to 1965 he served as the pastor of All Souls Church in Brooklyn, New York. While pastor of All Souls he led an opposition to the merger of the American Unitarian Association and the Universalist Church of America. As a result, he and his congregation left the Universalist denomination and affiliated with the National Association of Congregational Christian Churches in 1961.
