(Samuel) Laman Blanchard, English author and journalist. Blanchard's poetry was published widely in journals and he dedicated his 1828 Lyric Offerings to Charles Lamb. He edited, among other publications, the Monthly Magazine and George Cruikshank's Omnibus. Blanchard enjoyed friendships with many among the London literary set, including: Douglas Jerrold, Edward Bulwer-Lytton, William Harrison Ainsworth, Thomas Noon Talfourd, Charles Dickens, Leigh Hunt and Robert Browning, all of whom helped to raise funds to benefit his orphaned children after his suicide.
