Sir Sidney Colvin was an art professor, critic, and historian, having been Professor of Art at Cambridge, director of the Fitzwilliam Museum, and keeper of the Department of Prints and Drawings in the British Museum. Despite his long and active career in art, he is probably best remembered as a biographer, including one of the first biographies of Keats, and for his friendships with notable authors of his day, including Robert Louis Stevenson.
