(Paris?: Stars and Stripes, 1919), 2 copies; silk broadside: When war clouds hover o'er the land we read of heroes brave (1917 or 1918); a felt wall hanging: "Uncle Sam has our boy," with a silk flag and cabinet card (photographer, A. Hausold, Pittsburgh, Pa.); overpainted photograph of a soldier in uniform (on verso, Mrs. E. Mackley, Weissport, Pa.). Also, handkerchief: Greetings, Camp McClellan, Ala., with a flag border; three broadsides from the U.S. Committee on Candy Conservation; one broadside advertising smileage coupons, which gave soldiers free admittance to theatrical productions that came to National Army and National Guard camps, from the U.S. War Dept. Title: World War I posters, ca. 1917-1920.

Herbert E. Redman was a mid-20th century Louisville architect and served in both World Wars. The five WWI posters in this collection were found wrapped around Redman's architectural plans, functioning as protective enclosures. Four of the posters originated from the U.S. Food Administration and display images and slogans promoting war-time food conservation to aid the U.S. Army and its allies. The fifth poster, created by the Committee of Public Information Division of Pictorial Publicity, promoted the contributions of the Salvation Army women in aiding soldiers abroad.

Historical data, correspondence, reports, memoranda, articles, newspapers, pamphlets, photographs, scrapbooks, and other records documenting the YMCA's work serving the armed forces community from the time of the Civil War through the present. The records are divided into five, separately described series. Records related to YMCA welfare work during each of three major armed conflicts of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries make up the bulk of the collection. These include the United States Christian Commission-related records representing the Civil War era, records from World War I work, and United Service Organization-related records, which cover the YMCAs role in founding and operating the USO during World War II. Records concerning YMCA involvement in other wars, including the Spanish American, Korean, and Vietnam wars, can be found in the general and administrative series which also includes historical and background data; financial records; conference, committee and personnel files; and other records of the Armed Services Department and its predecessor and related organizational units. Also included in the collection is a series of scrapbooks and photo albums, primarily dating from the time of World War I.

This collection includes correspondence and financial documents involving Joseph S. Reynolds and his family. Reynolds correspondents mostly included mortgage brokers, attorneys, property managers, and insurance agents in Georgia and several Southeastern and Midwestern states. The content of these typed letters relate to the maintenance, finance, and sale of Mr. Reynolds properties. Included among the letters is a business proposition from H. A. Etheridge of Atlanta, who was seeking investors in the Mobile Oil Company, and a letter to Reynolds seeking a letter of recommendation for an executive clemency plea for Jackson Williams, a convicted murderer. Other correspondence relates to Reynold's business in the cotton industry, and his civic work for the United War Work Campaign. The remaining correspondence includes letters to family and friends, mostly concerning health and sickness matters. Financial documents include a cash book, lease contracts, promissory notes, and personal records such as bills, coupons, and receipts.
