Collection contains organizational records of the WEIU and material on its programs. Included are annual reports; financial records; minutes of the Board of Government (later Trustees), Executive Committee, and other committees; histories; publications; reports of various departments; photos; and the publicity files: scrapbooks of clippings, some now on microfilm. This material reflects the activities of the WEIU with records on its officers and its major concerns: working conditions for women in factory and domestic jobs, protection for immigrant women, employment opportunities and training for women in many fields, the School Lunch Program, the Appointment Bureau, the School of Housekeeping, the Domestic Reform League, the Handiwork Shop, the New England Kitchen, the Industrial Credit Union, the School of Salesmanship, the Bookshop for Boys and Girls, Partnership Teaching, Companions Unlimited, Nursing Home Guide, and the Day Care Program. Also videotape of a public service announcement for the WEIU, 1980 (shelved separately); and 1 folder of photocopies of scrapbook pages (shelved as B/W8728ed).

Eva Whiting White, social worker and educator, was involved in education.She was the first graduate of the Boston School for Social Workers (later Simmons College School of Social Work). She went on to become the head worker at the Elizabeth Peabody House (a settlement house in Boston's West End), Dean of the Simmons College School of Social Work, a member of the Boston Board of Public Welfare, Director of the Americanization and Immigration Division of the Massachusetts Board of Education and President of the Women's Educational and Industrial Union. The collection contains predominantly professional records including pamphlets, newspaper clippings, genealogies, photographs, financial records, histories, theater programs, post cards and correspondence. Correspondents include Jane Addams, Harriett M. Bartlett, Bancroft Beatley, Leonard Bernstein, Alice Channing, Eleanor Clifton, Ada Comstock, Richard K.
