Account books, reports, financial records, correspondence, memoranda, photographs, artwork, certificates, petitions, contracts, and other materials of various schools and school districts in the Town of Smithtown, including Smithtown High School, Smithtown Branch High School, Smithtown East High School, Smithtown Central School District No. 1, Union Free School District No. 1, and Nesconset Union Free School District No. 8. Records include three volumes of account books recording receipts and expenditures, and miscellaneous bills, receipts, and audits, 1920s; record of Regents examinations, 1924-1928; reports on redistricting and school closing, and reports on building needs, 1948 and 1957; Citizens' Committee Report, 1956; and "Hot Pastrami," a portfolio of student art, ca. 1975. Records of Nesconset Union Free School District No. 8 include a photocopy of the records of the Commissioners of Schools, Town of Smithtown, 1814-1894; specifications, contracts and other papers about construction of a school building, and quotes for school furniture; basketball and baseball score books for both boys' and girls' teams, 1920s and 1946; election registers; treasurers accounts; and minutes of the Board of Trustees from 1906 until 1955 when the district was dissolved and merged with the Smithtown Central School District.

Records of Troop 7, St. James, N.Y., 1944-1949, include minutes of Troop Committee meetings, treasurer's reports, reports of the Troop Board of Review, list of scouts and miscellaneous letters about Troop business, plus a humorous "Verbatim Record of Minutes of Troop Committee Meetings of January 25, 1945." Also, photocopies of the records of the History Committee of the Suffolk County Council, Boy Scouts of America, Phyllis Stein and Alvin J. Blake, co-chairs. Stock certificates from 1828 pertain to an unrelated "Library Association of Smithtown." Records of the Smithtown Library, begining 1907, include constitution and bylaws, financial reports, librarians' reports, and trustees' reports; account books, 1907-1937; receipt books, 1928-1963; accession books, 1908-1953; records of book stock and circulation records, 1907-1960; records of the Library mobile unit, 1948-1952, and the Kings Park branch, 1948-1953; and correspondence, scrapbooks, clippings and manuals of Friends of the Library. Scrapbooks, ca. 30v., contain photographs, clippings, and other printed material on Library activities, 1954-1988. Also of note are a "Code Book" (library procedures), ca. 1938,; memoranda to staff and records of staff meetings; deeds and other papers concerning the Smithtown Village Green where the Library is located; architectural drawings, plans and financial records for an addition to the building, 1967; and papers about a suit brought by a former librarian against the library trustees.

Coffin, 1806; bills of sale, enrollment papers, powers of attorney, and other documents pertaining to various sloops and schooners built at or sailing from Long Island ports, including the sloops PHEBE ANN, MAYBIRD, FERONIA, and schooners WILLIAM E. BIRD, and the URANIA, which sailed for San Francisco, 1850. Miscellaneous papers of the Mount and Phillips families. Papers of the painter William Sidney Mount consist of two notebooks, 1855 and 1867, containing names and addresses, health remedies, notes on paintings, portraits, commissions, spiritualism, politics and the weather, recipes for mixing paints, and a few sketches; also, seven letters, 1839-1868, to Abraham W. Floyd, Edw. P. Mitchell, Joshua E. Mount, and others concerning his paintings, and family and social matters; letter to John M. Williamson concerning the sinking of the steamboat LEXINGTON, 1840. Other Mount family materials include letters of John Mount to John M. Williamson concerning Mount resigning as Justice of the Peace, 1834, and papers relating to the estate of Henry S. Mount, 1841. Papers of the Phillips family include copies of the wills of George Phillips, 1741, and George S. Phillips, 1876; and letters to Mills Phillips from Congressman Eliphalet Wickes of New York and United States Senator John Smith of New York, with comments on national political affairs, including the purchase of Florida, 1806, and the nomination of DeWitt Clinton for the presidency, 1812. Also genealogical material on the Phillips and Edwards families.

Chase; Sanborn maps of Smithtown Branch, 1927, and of Kings Park, 1942; Nassau County real estate map, 1923; Long Island, 1847, 1897, 1906; Long Island Rail Road, 1884, 1914; and a map of "The Country 30 Miles Round the City of New York," 1812. Historical maps, some of which may be reprints or reproductions, include maps from the 17th and 18th centuries of North America, Canada, New Netherlands, New York, New England, and other regions. There is a photostat copy of a British map of New York City, Staten Island, and part of Long Island, 1781; and a hand-colored "Representation of the Massacre of the American Prisoners in Dartmoor Prison [England], April 6, 1815," printed, 1845. Also, United States Geological Survey (USGS) topographic maps of Long Island, starting 1904; and USGS coastline surveys of the north shore of Long Island, with sounding depths, 1837 and 1886.
