Title: Papers.

The collection reflects Stuart's wide interests in the LWV government, youth and the political process, crime control, gun control, energy and conservation, and other national issues. There are a few personal letters. One of the largest parts of the collection concerns the League's successful campaign by initiative to redistrict the State of Washington, which drew national attention.

Title: Chase Going Woodhouse Papers. undated, 1900-1984.

Born in Victoria, British Columbia in 1890 the daughter of Seymour and Harriet Jackson Going, Chase Going Woodhouse studied at McGill University, the University of Berlin and the University of Chicago. She was employed by Smith College, U.S. Department of Agriculture, the University of North Carolina, Connecticut College before her election to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1945. For much of the remainder of her career she served as the Director's of the Auerbach Women's Service Bureau (1945-1981). Chase Going Woodhouse died in 1984 after a lifetime of dedicated public service.

Includes papers relating to Glueck's literary interests as well as material on Glueck's career in criminology and administration of criminal justice, especially the Harvard Law School Survey of Crime and Criminal Justice in Boston,1926-1933, war crimes and criminals, Glueck's work on the Model Penal Code of the American Law Institute, membership on two advisory committees on Federal rules of criminal procedure (1941-1942,1960-1966), and his study (1926-1938) of the Belgian Ministry of Justice. Ts. copies of articles, reports, correspondence, and flyers, printed leaflets and articles, and photographs document suffrage, suffragists, and the legislative and other work done by organizations founded by former suffragists.

Zelma Corning Brandt (1891-1990) was a social crusader active throughout the twentieth century. Her chief interests included the independence and development of colonial countries, American Indian affairs, nuclear disarmament, women’s issues, and geriatric concerns. The collection consists of correspondence, travel notes, diaries and writings, and publications and reports, especially from 1960-1989. Brandt’s longevity and attention to detail provide a complete view of various world and domestic issues and events through this period. Zelma Brandt attended Bryn Mawr College from 1909 to 1911.
