Mainly comprised of historical materials on New Mexico, written or collected by Maurice Garland Fulton. Items include typescript drafts of books, correspondence, nineteenth century newspapers, newspaper articles, maps, audio-visual materials, diaries, poems, biographical sketches, legal documents, pamphlets, and photographs. Some material is original, while some is photomechanically reproduced. Fulton's research documented the lives of men such as the Santa Fe trader Josiah Gregg; Southern poet Irwin Russell; cattle baron John S. Chisum, English entrepreneur John H. Tunstall, Governor Lew Wallace, and outlaw Billy the Kid. As part of his studies on the settlement of the Pecos River Valley, and also the Lincoln County War, Fulton compiled information on many of the local families. Photographs depict named and anonymous individuals; groups such as cowboys; gravestones; and different localities throughout New Mexico, particularly Lincoln and Roswell.

The Arnold T. Schwab Collection is an archive of materials related to the life and work of Marian Nevins MacDowell, wife of composer Edward MacDowell (1860-1908) and founder of the MacDowell Colony in Peterborough, New Hampshire. Schwab collected these materials in preparation for a biography of Marian Nevins MacDowell, a work that was never completed. Included in the collection is a large cache of MacDowell-related correspondence: letters, mostly photocopies, to and from Edward MacDowell, letters, mostly photocopies, to and from Marian Nevins MacDowell, and others assembled from a variety of sources. In the Arnold T. Schwab series of correspondence there are copies of Schwab's letters to various friends and acquaintances of the MacDowells and MacDowell Colonists along with the responses. Some notable correspondents include: Carl Carmer, Aaron Copland, Mabel Daniels, Marjorie Chandler Hazard, George Kendall, Nina Maud Richardson, Cecil Smith, Conrad Spohnholz, Louise Talma and many others. A large group of index cards organized by various subjects and, apparently, gleaned from the above described correspondence, capsulize various aspects of Schwab's research. In addition to photographs of the MacDowells and some of their acquaintances, there are a group of scrapbooks, assembled by Schwab and organized by date.

The United States Sanitary Commission established the Army and Navy Claim Agency (ANCA) in Washington, D.C. on April 1, 1864 to serve as the USSC’s central office to assist Union soldiers, sailors, and their families in prosecuting claims on the federal government for pensions, back pay, bounty, commutation of rations, prize money, and other benefits, without cost. The Army and Navy Claim Agency Archives comprise the records of the Army and Navy Claim Agency; the records of the Pension Agency, its predecessor organization; the registers and cash books of its subsidiary local agencies; and the records of two quasi-independent USSC claim agencies whose origins predate the establishment of the Army and Navy Claim Agency: the Protective War Claim Association of the State of New York, located in New York City, and the Protective War Claim and Pension Agency, located in Philadelphia.

George Wilkins Kendall was a founder of the and the first documented American war correspondent. He was also a sheep rancher in the area which became Kendall County, Texas. Married in 1849 to Adeline de Valcourt, he had four children: Georgina Kendall Fellowes, who collected material relating to her father's life; George William Kendall; Henry Fletcher Kendall, a West Point graduate who served in Cuba, Texas, and the Philippines; and Caroline Louise Kendall. Fletcher's son, William Henry Kendall, was also a West Point graduate and served during World War II in Hawaii. Correspondence, newspaper clippings, diaries, photographs, genealogies, biographies, books, and artifacts. The Kendall family papers include personal materials, business records, and historical sources that span three generations beginning with George Wilkins Kendall. Correspondence includes George Wilkins Kendall's letters to the from Europe and the front lines during the Mexican War. Diaries of George Wilkins Kendall, his wife, Adeline, and his daughter, Caroline, are also included (some of the diaries are in French).
