The Arizona history subgroup contains manuscripts and research about early Arizona history, Mexican Americans, and Tucson history. Topics include Juan Bautista Anza, Teodoro Ramirez, Apache Mansos, Alphonse L. Pinart, mining in Hispanic Arizona (particularly the Mine with the Iron Door), missions (especially Guevavi and San Xavier), Sonoran Land Title Abstracts, and Hispanic genealogy. In the 1950s and 1980s, Officer compiled data about Tucson's power structure, Hispanic clubs and organizations, and Hispanic households. There is material about developing the Convento/Rio Nuevo site; histories of the Sosa-Carrillo-Fremont house, X-9 Ranch, Tucson barrios, Tucson radio, Coronado National Trail, Rillito, Marana, and Cortaro, corridos and an index to the Oury property record. The typescript for Officer's book, Hispanic Arizona, is also present. There is a manuscript by Tom Sheridan about the Catholic Church in Arizona and one by Stewart Udall about Mormon pioneers in Arizona. Other materials relate to contemporary issues such as maquiladores, border environmental problems, and immigration.

The last is Anza's report, 5 p., supporting Garcés suggestion, commenting on future difficulties with the Apache Indians, suggesting removal of the Apache, and civilizing other Indian groups.

During Monterey's 1970 bicentennial celebrations, Elstob was appointed director of the historic walking tours. He co-founded the California Heritage Guides and, with Helen Shropshire, planned the reenactment of Anza's expedition from Mexico to Alta California, 1775-1776, as part of the national American Revolution bicentennial celebration. A committee was formed and plans devised to follow the journey of the Anza party colonists. Collection consists of scrapbook albums, photographs, letters and articles documenting the Anza bicentennial committee activities and expedition reenactment.
