Diary of an expedition from Sonora to California, 1774 / by Juan Bautista de Anza.

The diary describes Juan Bautista de Anza's 1774 expedition from Tubac, Sonora, along the Altar River to the Pima Indian settlements, Altar, Caborca, and finally to the San Gabriel mission (Los Angeles), California, the first expedition to reach the California coast overland from Sonora. The account also records exploration northward to Monterey and the return journey in April. The diary contains a list of the expedition's members, including Fray Juan Marcello Díaz and Fray Francisco Garcés.
