Anza Expedition Bicentennial Committee collection [archives/manuscript], 1975-1976

During Monterey's 1970 bicentennial celebrations, Elstob was appointed director of the historic walking tours. He co-founded the California Heritage Guides and, with Helen Shropshire, planned the reenactment of Anza's expedition from Mexico to Alta California, 1775-1776, as part of the national American Revolution bicentennial celebration. A committee was formed and plans devised to follow the journey of the Anza party colonists. Collection consists of scrapbook albums, photographs, letters and articles documenting the Anza bicentennial committee activities and expedition reenactment.
