The papers consist of correspondence, professional files, research materials, writings, personal papers, and printed matter documenting Isidore Falk's career as an advocate of national health insurance and other programs related to public health. Of particular significance are the materials from his years with the Social Security Board (1936-1954), which document the campaign for government supported health insurance in the United States. Falk conducted public health and medical care surveys for the World Bank in Malaya, Singapore, Panama and the Canal Zone, and also prepared a survey of Union health programs (1958-1960) for the United Steelworkers of America. He founded the Community Health Care Center Plan in New Haven and the files record his activities as director (1970-1979). His active participation in professional organizations is reflected in correspondence and other papers. These papers form part of the Contemporary Medical Care and Health Policy Collection.

Fund officers whose biographical material and speeches were collected include John A. Kingsbury, Albert Goodsell Milbank, William H. Welch, and C.-E. A. Winslow. Of particular interest are the records (1922-1934) of the Bellevue-Yorkville Project which contain reports and printed matter relating to one of the three health demonstration projects which the fund supported in the early 1920s. These papers form part of the Contemporary Medical Care and Health Policy Collection.

The Spanish Child Welfare Association was founded in New York City in 1937 for the purpose of raising funds to evacuate, feed and nurse children who were victims of the Spanish Civil War. It raised funds primarily by sponsoring exhibitions of drawings done by Spanish children and paintings by contemporary Spanish artists at art museums, colleges and art associations. Collection consists of correspondence and office records of the Association, and photographs. Correspondence concerns recruiting of members, arrangements for fund-raising exhibitions of drawings and paintings, publication of book about Spanish children's drawings, publicity, and condition of refugee children in Spain. Office records include minutes of meetings, memoranda, reports, membership lists, by-laws, and financial reports. Also, photographs of exhibitions of children's art.

The papers consist of correspondence, professional files, research materials, writings, personal papers, and printed matter documenting Isidore Falk's career as an advocate of national health insurance and other programs related to public health. Of particular significance are the materials from his years with the Social Security Board (1936-1954), which document the campaign for government supported health insurance in the United States. Falk conducted public health and medical care surveys for the World Bank in Malaya, Singapore, Panama and the Canal Zone, and also prepared a survey of Union health programs (1958-1960) for the United Steelworkers of America. He founded the Community Health Care Center Plan in New Haven and the files record his activities as director (1970-1979). His active participation in professional organizations is reflected in correspondence and other papers. These papers form part of the Contemporary Medical Care and Health Policy Collection.

Carbon typescripts of trancripts document Charles H. Strong's investigation into charges brought against the State Board of Charities by John A. Kingsbury, Commissioner of Public Charities of New York City. Kingsbury presented the Governor with charges that the Board had neglected its responsibility toward institutions for children in New York City. Acting under authority of the 1907 "Moreland Act" (an amendment to a law of 1892), the governor appointed Strong to investigate the management and affairs of the Board in regard to these charges.

J. B. Matthews (1894-1966) was a Methodist missionary, college professor, author, lecturer, and prominent conservative spokesman. Collection consists of correspondence, memoranda, statements, speeches, reprints, clippings, broadsides, newsletters, press releases, petitions, and other printed material, chiefly 1930-1969. The principal focus of the collection relates to the work and research of Matthews and his associates in the area of anti-communism, particularly in connection with Matthews' role as Director of Research for the Special Committee on Un-American Activities of the U.S. House of Representatives (1938-1945), Executive Director of the Permanent Subcommittee on Government Operations of the U.S. Senate (1953), and a consultant for John A. Clements Associates. Many of the organizations, newspapers, periodicals, and persons represented in the collection have various leftist, socialist, communist, radical, or pacifist (especially anti-Vietnam War) connections.Individuals represented in the files include Ralph Abernathy, Bella Abzug, Roy Cohn, John Foster Dulles, Dwight D.
