There are letter books, correspondence, and scrapbooks of clippings for all aspects of W.R. Grace's career. There are minute books and other documents for more than 50 subsidiary companies owned by W.R. Grace & Co. or by family members. The papers of Joseph Peter Grace (1872-1950) continue the business, family, and philanthropic activities until 1942. There are also 20 reels of motion picture film about the Grace Co. South American interests in the 1950s.

The papers of William Titus Rigby document not only his life and career, but also that of his family, especially his father, Washington Augustus; his brother, Joshua and sister, Ellen Davis; his wife, Eva; and their children, William C., Charles L., and Grace Rigby Cameron. The papers consist of correpondence that spans more than three generations. It tells of student life at Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa during the mid-nineteenth century, of early banking concerns in eastern Iowa, and of the battlefield experiences of William T. Rigby. He served in the 24th Iowa Infantry Regiment during the Civil War and saw action in the Vicksburg campaign. There are diaries kept by Washington Augustus Rigby in the 1830s and essays and sermons written by Joshua Hopkins Rigby. The subject files include such things as financial records (including mortgages, warranties, and tax papers), photographs, and genealogical materials. William Titus Rigby's work as commissioner of the Vicksburg National Military Park is well documented with correspondence, record books, newspaper clippings, and other printed material. Some of the correspondents include: William Boyd Allison, Robert G. Cousins, and Stephen D. Lee. More correspondents include: Frederick Dent Grant, John B. Gordon, William D. Title: Century Company records

The Century Company published the Century Illustrated Monthly Magazine, which was widely regarded as the best general periodical of its time, performing a role as cultural arbiter during the 1880s and 1890s. It was founded in New York City in 1881 and also published the children's magazine St. Nicholas, dictionaries, and books. The Century Company records date from 1870 to the 1930s and chiefly contain correspondence with contributors, readers, public figures, and literary agents. A number of manuscripts and proofs in the collection are extensively edited and taken with annotations on letters provide a detailed record of the outlook, standards, and functions of the company.

John Dean Fish (1846-1935) was a genealogist and contributor to the New York Genealogical and Biographical Record. The John Dean Fish papers consist of his genealogical correspondence and research materials, including family records, charts, notes and writings, and research files, pertaining to the Fish family of England in America. Although his published work, The Fish Family of Great Bowden in Leicestershire, England, traces the family's roots back for centuries in England, the bulk of the material in this collection pertains to a projected later work on the members of the family after their emigration to America in the eighteenth century. His research for The Fish Family in America included many branches of the Fish family throughout the United States, the majority of which settled in New York and New England. Among the prominent members of the family were Hamilton Fish (1808-1893), a politician who served as Governor of New York and Secretary of State under President Grant, and his son, Stuyvesant Fish (1851-1923), president of the Illinois Central Railroad. The collection, the bulk of which reflects his research activities from the 1890s through the 1920s, contains his correspondence with, and documents collected from, various individuals, government agencies, and historical societies, as well as files he compiled on individual family members and the towns in which they lived. Also present is a manuscript of his work The Fish Family of Great Bowden in Leicestershire, England; an original 1732 record (and typed transcript) of a legal dispute which involved Martha and Moses Fish of Stonington, CT; and a copy made by Fish in 1864 of an 1811 extract from the diary of Asa Fish.

The records contain the official correspondence of Arthur Twining Hadley during his tenure as president of Yale University. Charles Henry Wenman papers, 1832-1951

Title: Charles Henry Wenman papers 1832-1951

Charles Henry Wenman was born in Rensselaerville, N.Y. in 1869. By 19, he had already secured a clerkship and within a few years, had become General Bookkeeper for the Illinois Central Railroad. By the time Wenman left the company in 1906, he had held various positions at the railroad. Wenman then became secretary to Stuyvesant Fish (1851-1923), the former president of the Illinois Central Railroad. Wenman held this position until Fish's death in 1923 and continued as secretary to the Fish family into the 1940s. Apart from Wenman's work with the Fish family, he also ventured into business on his own. In 1923, he formed the Stenciltype Company, which made mimeograph stencil machines for advertising and duplication. The company dissolved in 1925. Wenman also helped his cousin run the Crea-Mont Country Club in Culver Lake, N.J. from 1925-1927. Besides investing in the Stenciltype Company, Wenman also invested in a fraudulent motion picture company, Century Motion Picture Company, as well as several other ill-fated business ventures. Charles Henry Wenman was a long-time Brooklyn resident and lived most of life at his home in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn. Wenman died in 1957.
