Brown, Alexander, 1843-1906
Variant namesBorn at Glenwood, Nelson County, Va., Alexander Brown was deafened while serving in the Confederate Army in the explosion of a powder-boat near Fort Fisher, N.C. He married Caroline Augusta Cabell and after her death, Sarah Randolph Cabell. He was the author of The Genesis of the United States, The First Republic in America, The Cabells and Their Kin and other works.

Alexander Brown was a Confederate soldier, farmer, and historian, a native of Nelson County, Va. where he lived all his life. He was the author of The Genesis if the United States (1890) and several other works on the early history and genealogy of Virginia.
