Butler, Pierce Mason, 1798-1847
Variant namesSouth Carolina banker, U.S. Army officer, and South Carolina governor. Pierce Mason Butler spent much of his military service at Fort Gibson, Oklahoma, and in 1838 was named agent to the Cherokees.
