Letter to Horatio Seymour, 1863 August 10.

Letter to Governor Horatio Seymour asking for a speedy promotion of Robert W. Leonard from Adjutant of the 162nd Regiment of the New York Volunteers to Major of the same Regiment. Hoffman feels "a strong personal desire" to see the promotion approved by Seymour and requests the promotion announcement be sent either to himself or to William H. Leonard, Robert's father, at City Hall. Written at New York, N.Y.
