Series 4 and 5 of record group RG 97-7 consist of audio-visual material (ca. 1960, 1980) and scrapbooks (ca. 1905-1940) collected by the Michigan Department of Public Health. The audio-visual material includes the film "Industrial exhaust systems" (ca. 1960) and the video "Experiences with whooping cough immunization process" (ca. 1980). The latter consists of lectures given by Dr. Pearl Kendrick and Dr. Grace Eldering concerning the whooping cough immunization that they developed while employees of the Michigan Department of Public Health. There are two scrapbooks in the record group, a scrapbook on the Michigan Tuberculosis Association (ca. 1905-1940) and a letterpress book (1908) of Frank W. Shumway, M.D. (Secretary, State Board of Health).

Dr. Grace Eldering was born on Sept. 5, 1900 in Hysham, Montana. She received a B.A. in biology/chemistry from the University of Montana (1927) and a doctorate in immunology from John Hopkins University (1941). Eldering began working as a microbiologist for the Michigan Dept. of Public Health in 1928. In 1932, Eldering, along with Dr. Pearl L.
