Henry Will was a pewterer in New York City and Albany, N.Y. After 1793, he was primarily a dry-goods merchant. Born in Herbohn Germany about 1735, Will's family emigrated to New York City, where Will married Magdalena Haan in the Reformed Dutch Church on Nov. 25, 1761. Shortly thereafter, Will established a shop in Old Slip called "The Sign of the Block-tin Teapot." Sometime in late 1775 or early 1776, Will moved to Albany, where he continued in the pewter trade.
