Papers, 1794-1824, 1856-1936.

Consists of correspondence, postcards, and invitations that reflect the family relationships that Evelina du Pont had with Henry Francis du Pont, Ruth Wales du Pont, Ruth Ellen du Pont, and Pauline Louise du Pont. Much of the correspondence describes a trip the two Ruths and Pauline took around the world in 1936 on the Cunard White Star liner, Franconia, as they recounted it to Evelina. The trip included visits to Ceylon, Trinidad, India, China, Japan, and Brazil. The collection also contains early letters written by Evelina's great grandfather, Jechonias Wood, and other members of the Wood family. Also present is an invitation to Evelina from Louisa d'Andelot du Pont to join the family for breakfast at St. Amour to honor the 100th anniversary of the arrival of Pierre Samuel du Pont de Nemours in America. In addition, the collection contains several printed titles, most of which are inscribed to Evelina du Pont, on such topics as religion, medicine, and travel.
