Fifty-four letters to Welbore Eillis, prominent Whig politician, on a variety of topics. Includes: seven letters from John Bowes, Lord Chancellor of Ireland, concerning the settlement of Ellis' father's estate and Irish politics; three letters from Fulke Greville concerning Parisian Society; nineteen letters from Captian Lewis Thomas commenting on Henry Fielding, Jean-Jacues Rousseau and military accounts of the Jacobite Rebellion and Mauritius campaign; seven letters from John Tucker concerning Ellis' political and financial dealings; six letters from Ellis' grand-nephew George James Welbore Agar Ellis, first Baron Dover.
