Harvey Monroe Hall papers, 1859-1991 (bulk 1896-1932).

Consists of the papers of Harvey Monroe Hall, his wife Carlotta Case Hall, and their daughter Martha Hall Niccolls. The papers of Harvey Monroe Hall contain correspondence, notes, reprints and newspapers clippings relating to his family life and his career in botany including specimen collecting, research and teaching. The papers of Carlotta Case Hall contain correspondence, writings and diaries, papers relating to her families genealogy, and papers relating to her husbands illness and death. The papers of Martha Hall Niccolls contain correspondence, writings, diaries and scrapbooks. Correspondents are listed in the catalog record.

Eastwood was curator and later head of the Department of Botany at the California Academy of Sciences, 1849-1949. She was responsible for saving the Academy's type collection after the San Francisco earthquake of 1906.
