This set of three prints reproduces two displays of transparent paintings and illuminations in celebration of the recovery of King George III from his second episode of insanity in 1789. The aquatint and stipple engravings are signed by Wm. Hamilton and P.W. Tomkins. The aquatint depicts the Bank of England facade decorated for the event. The stipple engraving, which reproduces the decorations's centerpiece, shows the city of London with sword and charter next to Britannia's triumphal car driven by the goddess of Health, blessed by Peace and Prosperity. The third print, engraved by Francesco Bertolozzi, reproduces the "transparency exhibited at this House" [of Commons] depicting the King being crowned by allegorical figures. The artist combines the stipple technique he had developed with multicolor printing; this style contributed to the immense popularity he enjoyed during his long sojourn in London. Fine etched lines enhance shadows and create volumes, while hand and à la poupée coloring adds that aspect of miniature technique typical of Bartolozzi's work.
