Palladian architectural designs. ca. 1710-ca. 1749.

Designs by English architects Roger Morris and William Kent include the following drawings: by Morris are a garden alcove, elevation and scale; a square temple with pyramid roof, elevation with plan and scale; a circular domed temple with four pedimented niches, elevation and plan; and a sketch for the Great Room at Whitton Place, Middlesex. These drawings are believed to stem from a collection of Morris designs in a 1917 sale from the library at Wilton House, the seat of the Earl of Pembroke who was a frequent collaborator of Morris. Also included is a design for an obelisk attributed to Morris. By Kent is a design for a ceiling with a fragmentary inscription on the verso in Kent's hand: "...but you had best keep a blank margin of three inches all round."

William Kent was apprenticed to a coachmaker in Yorkshire but went to London in 1703 and to Rome in 1710 to study painting.
