Kent, William, 1685-1748
Variant namesWilliam Kent was apprenticed to a coachmaker in Yorkshire but went to London in 1703 and to Rome in 1710 to study painting. In Italy he met Thomas Coke (first Earl of Leicester) who would become his patron.
