James D. Waddell papers, 1862-1864 [microform].

The collection consists of a microfilm copy of the papers of James D. Waddell from 1862-1864. The papers include correspondence and a partial biographical memoir. Letters (January 1862 - September 1864) are from and to Waddell and his wife, Medora. Waddell's letters are written form Virginia and Medora's letters are written from Cedar Valley, Georgia. The biographical memoir consists of the first nine pages of "A Brief Memoir of the late Col. James D. Waddell Embracing Tributes to his Memory." which was published in Cedartown, Georgia, 1882.

James D. Waddell, lawyer and Confederate officer, was born 22 December 1832, in Abbeville District, South Carolina, and died 15 December 1881. He practiced law in Cedartown, Georgia, in partnership with E.D. Chisom, until the Civil War began. Waddell served with the 20th Georgia Infantry Regiment, eventually as colonel of his regiment.
