William Otis Raiguel collection, 1905-1932.

Includes correspondence, contractual agreements, travel diaries, and an insurance application. The correspondence, dated from 1909-1920, is between Raiguel and John Galen Howard. Travel diaries include architectural sketches, small photographs, itineraries, and a few articles and brochures, and document travels to England, France, Italy, the United States and Canada.

A leader in the American Renaissance Movement, with special interest in the Beaux-Arts style, John Galen Howard came to California in 1892-1893. He was chosen to execute the Hearst plan for the University of California, Berkeley, and later founded the School of Architecture at Berkeley.
