Thomas Thorp (28 Oct 1805-1854) was born in Alnwick, Northumberland, the son of Robert Thorp, clerk of the peace for Northumberland, and his wife Mary Ann Alder. He married Elizabeth Jane Tudor, youngest daughter of F. Tudor Esq of Queens Parade, Bath, on 9 Apr 1835, and they had two sons, Robert, born in 1838, and William Tudor, born in 1841.
